Write for us

United Regional News welcomes thoughtful pitches about regional geography and identity: the features, settlements, routes, boundaries and place names that help readers understand how places connect. Send proposals through the Contact page.

Subjects that fit

We are interested in clear, specific ideas that open up a regional question without turning it into a list of places. A pitch might focus on how a landform relates to settlement, how routes connect a region, what a boundary means on a map, or what can responsibly be said about a place name.

What makes a strong pitch

Tell us the central question, why it would interest a general reader and what your proposed piece would explain. Share the likely structure and the basis for any factual claims. Keep the scope focused, distinguish evidence from interpretation and avoid making a single example stand for an entire region.

How to send a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to send your pitch. Include your name, a way to reply and a short outline. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for clarification before considering it further.
